Locally and internationally revered hair and beauty expert, Chandhani Bandara was presented the Large Scale Gold Award at the Women’s Chamber of Industry & Commerce (WCIC) Awards 2013 ceremony at the Kingsbury Hotel recently. She is popularly known as the Founder and Chairperson of Chandhani Bandara Salons and the creator of the ‘4Ever Skin Naturals’ herbal beauty care range. Organized by WCIC, the event recognized and celebrated the achievements of Sri Lanka’s foremost remarkable women and was attended by Minister for Economic Development, Hon. Basil Rajapaksa as chief guest as well as Minister of External Affairs, Prof. G.L. Pieris as guest of honour.
With over a decade’s experience in the Hair and Beauty industry as well as a familial background in Ayurveda, Chandhani Bandara holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Institute of Natural Sciences, Canada as well as a range of accreditations from professional courses in hair and beauty care as well as in cosmetics in the USA, UK, Singapore, Japan and Thailand.
Speaking on the win, Ms. Bandara enthused, “It is a great honor to be recognized for the hard work and dedication that has gone into developing the beauty care industry in Sri Lanka. This industry and my work in it is something of a lifelong passion for me and I am truly blessed to be recognized for doing what I love. The Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Women in Management provides a fantastic forum for the hard working women of Sri Lanka to be appreciated and I am very happy to, not only have been one of this year’s winners, but also to have been a part of this wonderful event”.
Having built a strong brand locally, Ms. Bandara has also carried her name to foreign shores via the export of the company’s trademark 4Ever Natural Herbal Beauty Care range to Australia, USA, Singapore, Germany and Maldives. On the heels of strong tourist and expatriate awareness within Sri Lanka, she took her brand to international markets in 2008, a decision that has yielded resounding success. Manufactured to the highest standards, the range is produced under the personal supervision of Ms. Bandara to ensure stringent company standards are met. Ms. Bandara’s trademark Chandhani Bandara Salons, located in Nugegoda, Nawala, Mount Lavinia, Kiribathgoda, Negambo, Kurunegala, Kaluthara, Maharagama and Kandy are also known for their dedication to providing high quality, value for money services to customers via a range of personalised services covering everything from non-surgical face lifts to traditional sari draping and hair and makeup. Overseeing the highly trained staff herself, she ensures her philosophy and standards are maintained throughout the business.
Additionally, Ms. Bandara has also pioneered an academic program to educate and empower the next generation of hair and beauty professionals as well as introducing an AQF qualification and City & Guilds courses. Ms. Bandara hopes that by opening avenues for these individuals to better qualify and elevate the standards of the industry locally, she is contributing to the continuation and further development of a time honored craft, making it possible for these traditions to be carried forward for generations.
